A ~9300sqft Fire Station Remodel
While working with Fluent Engineering, Inc. we collaborated with Hennebery Eddy Architects, Inc. to remodel the Marion County Fire District No. 1 Station #2 in Salem, Oregon, focusing on a one-for-one lighting replacement and upgraded lighting controls. With a goal to adhere to a budget-friendly approach, we aimed to improve the lighting quality and energy efficiency of the fire station.
The new lighting system introduced zoning with manual lighting controls in the Apparatus Bay, allowing for better daylight harvesting through the aluminum glass overhead doors. This approach not only enhanced energy efficiency, but provided a more comfortable and functional lighting environment for the firefighters.
Transitioning from the harsh fluorescent lighting to a more pleasant and efficient 3500K temperature LED lighting system significantly improved the quality of light throughout the interior station.
A gratifying aspect of this project was the installation of dimming controls in the bunk rooms. This feature provided a comfortable and adjustable lighting solution for the firefighters, creating a home-like atmosphere while on call for fires.
Overall, the project successfully enhanced the lighting environment of the fire station, improving both functionality and comfort for its occupants.
