A 435,000sqft Parking Structure
While working with Fluent Engineering, Inc. we completed a lighting and lighting controls upgrade for the Oregon Department of Administrative Services (ODAS) Capitol Mall Parking Structure in Salem, Oregon. This project aimed to enhance the safety, visibility, and aesthetics of the underground parking garage for multiple state buildings.
The new lighting system utilizes a mesh network, with onboard controls on each luminaire. These luminaires communicate with each other to activate specific zones when occupied, significantly improving occupant safety and deterring unlawful activities.
The upgrade resulted in a considerably more illuminated underground parking garage, providing excellent visibility and creating a safer environment for employees to access their vehicles.
An enjoyable aspect of the project was updating the decor lighting and providing new linear uplighting for the outbuildings that offer stairwell and elevator access to the parking structure below Oregon State Capitol State Park. These outbuildings feature beautiful wood ceilings and the lighting design highlights this architecture, creating a soft and inviting glow at dusk, providing a delightful sight for those walking through the historic State Capitol Park.
